Give us your reaction to our activity on Thursday (Stepping Stones), keep in mind the 3 principles we are working on (Respect, Responsibility, and Trust). Be as specific as you can in your insights.
The group to finish last was lacking heavily in respect, thus resulting in that group's failure. If the so-called leaders of the group respected each other enough to cooperate rather than overwrite the other's opinions, then a much more creative method might have been possible. Also, the group seemed to lack in the concept of responsibility for the whole team rather than the individual. For example, some members seemed more concerned with their personal pride (i.e. listening to what another tells them to do is a symbol of subservience) rather than the consequences for the group as a whole. The other teams, however, put aside their personal differences on their way back and held hands (and thereby risking a cootie infection), and they got across just fine.
Trust... well, I know who I can trust in my gym class and who I can't trust.
that activity was pretty fun! i think once we had to be connected somehow it tied trust into the activity because you knew that if someone messed up it would cause a lot of the group to mess up so everyone was backing each other up. my group really respected each other and the ideas that each person had on how to use the mats. and for responsibility, everyone had a responsibility to keep on focus and pass along the mats and make sure they followed the rules which my group did!!!
I loved that activity! it reminded me of a game we played in elementary school called mission impossible. I had alot of fun with my group. We all got along so well and knew what we had to do to get across. When someone had an idea we all respected who ever was talking and listen to thier input. And when we got some mats taken away we didn't get mad, we just accepted it and tried to figure out how to work around it. It was a really good group bonding activity!
this was a great team bonding activity! each and every person had to know what was going on otherwise we probably wouldnt have been able to finish it. we were calm and under control at all times which helped a lot. we got mats taken away but that made us bond even more because we had to talk over and see what we could do to be able to make it across with the remaining mats.
I thought this activity was fun,yet challenging.it made each group member have to depend on one another. each group was different and although some people got frustrated we each learned that you have to be respectful to others and trust everyone to accomplish your task.
I thought that the activity itself was fun and it showed us that if we don't work together and listen to each other we will just be frustrated and stressed with each other.
the activity definately highlighted some issues i think our entire class will encounter over the year. my group was the first to realize what happens when we don't respect eachothers' opinions or don't take responsibility for our classmates. however, i believe the rest of the class will soon be involved in similar situations as these and as a whole we all need to figure out how to get through them
i thought it was a really good activity. my group seemed to accomplish it sorta easily, but that was because we did a great job respecting each other's ideas for getting across as well as trusting each other to make smart choice so we wouldn't lose mats. Responsibility got worked in when we had to take responsiblity when we did get a mat taken away, and the leaders of our group had to be responsible and take control of the orginization for our group.
I think it was so fun. We had to trusb everyone to make it through. Other groups seemed to have communication issues. It really helps If you listen to others around you and find what works.
welllll i thought this activity was really fun and i really enjoyed doing it. my group was able to complete the tasks we were givig fairly easiy because we trusted eachother, respected others ideas + made sure to listen, and also stayed responsible and made sure we were doing our job to keep from losing the matts. i noticed that other groups that failed to use these three key things, had a harder time finishing. i've learned that these things are very important in not only this class activity but also will be very helpful later on in life :)
It was fun and interesting. Few of my group members were a bit clumsy. I guess my group learn the hard way. Sometimes making mistakes are good so u don't repeat it again. More communication and also to clarify that everyone understand. I don't think everyone understood wat they were doing so we lost some items. I hope we learned it and next time do better. Also i think we need to encourage others to speak out their ideas. I'm pretty sure a lot of us have good ideas
i wasn't there that day but it sounds like that activity, like most that we've done, required people to listen to all the ideas and choose the best while being respectful. communication has been the key to being successful and making sure that everyone understands and trusts each other, while taking responsiblity for their own actions.
As crazy as the activity was, I think most of the groups had a fun experience going through it. It takes a step back from the roller blading unit and running we've been doing and gave the class a new taste of togetherness. It was really interesting today being even more limited for my sake- of being silent all day. And then when H threw in the 2 peoples whose eyes ahd to be closed, we were all pretty stunned. However, our group made it across and we even had a little help from another, by letting us walk on their "person" to get across. I hope we begin to do more activities along these lines, but maybe a little more exciting.
I have to say i disagree with things that some people wrote. Just because one group finished slower than the others doesnt mean much. There is always going to be a last place team in a situation like that. I also wouldn't say respect wasn't the issue in our group. People just butted heads and that happens all the time in real life. Whether we like it or not, not everyone one is going to get along. You just need to work around your differences to get something done and our group did do that because we stil completed it. even if it was at a slower pace then everyone else we still got the activity done as a team. i feel it was a fun activity no matter what happened, we still finished and did it like we were supposed to.
that activity was a lot of fun and it required for us to depend on and trust each other. If someone messed up then they would tip of the balance of the person next to them and then everyone would fall. It took a while for our group to come up with a strategy and our second strategy completely failed because we left two people behind and that was because of communication problems in our group.
i really liked this activity because it did require us to respect eachother's ideas. You also definetly had to be responsible for what your group needed you to do and trust the other people in your group to do their part.
I thought it was interesting and was a great example of a team building activity. It required everybody to be part of the group. I had funand it was challenging.
I have been teaching since 1995. I started teaching at Winston Campus Junior High in Palatine. In 2001 I began teaching at Fremd. I am an assistant golf and wrestling coach. I have also coached boys gymnastics and I was a sponsor for Powder Puff Football and Outdoor Adventure Club. I am the 4th child of 5, 3 older sisters and 1 younger brother. I am married and I have two great boys 2 1/2 year old and a 5 week old. Chase and Brody. I love it when I come home and chase yells out "DADDY" and has a big smile on his face and is coming to hug me.
