I think my biggest concern is the anchor not being ready and the belayer flying in the air when the climber falls. For climbing, it seems we have to be a lot more focused than we did when we were just repelling, but I think its going to be a lot of fun.
I'm really concerned about climbing because it seems like I don't have the adequate upper body strength to get me up that ladder. :\ I was shaking really badly up there.
the ladder looks super hard and like christine im not sure i have enough muscle to get all the way up to the platform thing but i really wanna try! what sheila did today looked awesome and i definetely wanna try that out hahah. as for the climbing i think the rocks are big enough that i can for once get a good grip with my hands AND my feet xD but the belaying might be a little bit of a concern of mine.. but its should be for everyone right..? just to keep us all safe and all haha
The ladders lolk really hard and scary for someone who doesn't have anyy upper body strength...like me! Maybe this whole rock climbing experience will give me some muscle!
My concern would be belaying just because it was such a work out for your wrists and you never want to drop anyone. Is it supposed to twist your wrist so much it hurts? But climbing was so much fun! Can't wait to get higher!
The only thing i am nervous about is belaying. You really have to be focused because you never know when the climber is going to fall. Other than that i'm really excited to climb! -Tiffany K.
my biggest concern is just that other members of the group might not pay as much attention as they should, but in general i'm just excited for the experience.
My biggest concern is about belaying and being prepared if the climber falls and also making sure that my belayer is ready if i accidentally fall while climbing.
i'm not rly concern about anything but can't wait to climb. Belaying is rly tiring constantly moving the rope and catious about many things but overall i think it would go well
well climbing for my first time i was def. really scared and didnt feel safe. haha soo im not sure how good that is. but belaying i felt pretty confident that i was doing everything right. it was a lot of fun though and im excited to continue doing it and get better at everything.
I am not really nervous about climbing because what I got to do on Friday was fun but challenging but I am nervous about belaying because when the person falls there is alot of strain on your body as the rope tries to pull you upwards and the anchor is pulling you downwards.
My biggest concern is the balayer. I know I can trust him/her, but it's not like I'm ganna tell the person I'm going to fall..it's kind of an unexpected thing. I'm just scared that the balayer isn't going to be ready. But other than that, I'm super pumped to climb! (Which I did today.. and it was really fun)
I think that the hardest job about climbing is belaying so thats usually what im most scared of. The person belaying has to be really alert at all times b.c. you never know when someone might fall.I know its the job i focus on the most and it makes me the most nervous when climbing
I love climbing the wall, but a lot of people in my group won't try to conquer their fear and go for it! I want us to encourage everyone to overcome their fears and to have enough trust in their group to know that we will help them if they fall.
I have been teaching since 1995. I started teaching at Winston Campus Junior High in Palatine. In 2001 I began teaching at Fremd. I am an assistant golf and wrestling coach. I have also coached boys gymnastics and I was a sponsor for Powder Puff Football and Outdoor Adventure Club. I am the 4th child of 5, 3 older sisters and 1 younger brother. I am married and I have two great boys 2 1/2 year old and a 5 week old. Chase and Brody. I love it when I come home and chase yells out "DADDY" and has a big smile on his face and is coming to hug me.

ReplyDeleteI'm concerned that I'm going to get too tired while belaying... that is harder than it looks! Other than that, I'm just excited to climb.

The only concern I have is making sure that the belayer is prepared. Aslo, having the arm strength to climb to the top!
