Give us your reaction to the things you heard while doing this activity. Please give me your honest opinion about; is it worth our time to read these out load during class? Why or why not?
I really like reading these letters. There are so many things that i never knew about people in the class and even though you have no clue whos letter it is, it's still eye opening to know that people in your class are going through so many things. Its important that we get to know these things about each other and everyones has had awesome notes. This is totally a valuable thing and its a really good use of class.
This was definitely worth doing. I think this made everyone realize that each person is experiencing some kind of hardship in his/her life and that we're not alone. We're in this together, no matter how different each situation is. Also we got to let our secrets out to a group of over 30 kids. It's hard to tell others our private information. But since this was presented anonymously, it was easier to do. I loved listening to every letter.
I definitely like this assignment. You don't realize what some people are going through. I feel like it opened a lot of trust for some people, they maybe realized that they actually have someone to talk to. I loved hearing everyones letters and it meant a lot to me.
I kind of find the sharing part of this assignment meaningless, because after a while, every story starts to sound the same. The true value of this assignment is in writing it. Writing about, and admitting to your problems with the knowledge that it will be shared is much more challenging and psychologically freeing than the sharing part.
i thought this activity was completly worth doing and it really enjoyed it. Even though we didnt know whos paper we were listening to, we were able to get to know the class better because things that were written about would not of come up in a normal conversation and we wouldnt of ever known things about people if this assignment wasnt given. I think we should do more activites similar to this one so that we can really open up to eachother and get to know everyone better even though the year is almost over. i think the sharing part was notttt meaningless even though the person above me said it was. i think that was the most important part because we wrote our stories ourselves but weve also lived them so there wouldnt of been a point to writing it if we werent even going to share it. but yeahh :) i really enjoyed this.
i really liked listening to the letters. they allowed us to write things that we wouldn't normally say and also proved that everyone is going through something difficult. Keeping it anonymous also gave us the opportunity to be completely honest and it didn't really matter that we didn't know who it was.
I thought it was interesting to hear what everyone is going through in our class cause each story is unique and special to them in their own way. I wish some people were more respectful during this activity...there were some people sleeping, talking, or just messing around and you could tell they already had their papers read. I was surprised by this and expected more from my classmates. Other than that i enjoyed listening to them and thought it was a great way to show how much we've grown to trust eachother as a class.
I thought this was a gerat learning experience for everyone in the class. There are secrets every person has and different parts about everybody that we are not aware of. Although this might have been extremely difficult to do for some people, it proved to be beneficial. We should continue to do this. Brooke Opitz
A couple of things I've heard have really surprised me, and it was a cool experience to hear what everyone is going through. I think I've learned a lot about our class and also people in general. I also thought that taking the time to reflect on our own lives when we were writing it was beneficial.
I love learning about people, and I am always the one who loves to hear life stories and such, so this was definitely worth doing! Some people's stories were touching and almost made me tear. (almost haha) I was hoping we would get to do something like this for so long and now that it's finally happened I'm really glad we all got a chance to hear each others voices regardless of the fact that they were anonymous. Maybe next time, we will have something similar and not make it anonymous depending on how comfortable we feel. breaking down barriers and comfort zones takes courage, but this was the first step...and it was a very good first step.
I haven't ever had an assignment like this, it was a very different experience. It was hard to write but I felt good after I wrote it. Listening to Mr. H read my paper was sort of scary but once I realized that no one knew who was writing it I felt more relaxed. The one thing about this experience that really upset me were the people that thought it would be ok to talk and sleep while Mr. H was reading the papers. I thought it was extremely rude and immature but other than that it was an awesome experience! ::Sophia N.
i twas fun and interesting. I learned about what people are going through. Everyone knows that there is always something going on in some1 life. What makes me sad is that society raised us to become strong and now show weakness. That weakness stays with us for a long time and will never be fixed unless we have some1 help us become strong. Society created in a way that we fear to show our weakness because we are so judging. plus this shows how much we lack understanding with each other and i don't rly think it was meaningless but worth it. It exposes our weakness and it'll help us grow and learn to not judge each other and learn to be heal instead of being scarred
I think this activity was worthwhile in many ways. Though we had no idea whose papers were whose, I learned that many other people in the class had a lot of problems just like me. It goes along with the saying "Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle."
I really like this assignment, and I think it was probably the most helpful out of all the things we've done so far this year. It's cool to know that other people are going through the same sort of stuff that you are, and, even though we didn't know who wrote which paper, we could still realize that there's a lot we don't know about the people we see everyday.
I think reading these in class was really interesting and brought us together more as a class. When you are in a large class like this, you don't always think of everyone's idividual lives and this activity really put things in perspective for me. In the future, I think this assignment would have a larger impace if everyone read their own papers.
I really like this activity that we wrote about ourselves. It made me to think about myself and friends. Sometimes I can gussed who is who. I had fun and relax time.
It was very intense. I got to learn many things about the people in the class, and that many of us had stereotypes about ourselves. But with this activity we realize that we all have emotions and we are afraid to express them in a more freely way. I hope this activity would help us to trust the people in our class and to build new friendships.
i really liked this activity a lot. it really made me think about other people's situations and that everyone has a different story. it also made me think about stereotypes and how you should never judge a book by it's cover. this activity was worth doing because i was able to get my story heard and it was interesting hearing other peoples. i really enjoyed learning more about the people in our class. the assigment got me to open up more and share things to the class that many didnt realize about me. omg ur sons sooo cute mr.H
I think the assignment was worth doing because it makes everyone aware that you are not the only one who goes through hard times. Everyone has a different story and you can never tell what someone is going through or has been through until they tell you. Trisha

I have been teaching since 1995. I started teaching at Winston Campus Junior High in Palatine. In 2001 I began teaching at Fremd. I am an assistant golf and wrestling coach. I have also coached boys gymnastics and I was a sponsor for Powder Puff Football and Outdoor Adventure Club. I am the 4th child of 5, 3 older sisters and 1 younger brother. I am married and I have two great boys 2 1/2 year old and a 5 week old. Chase and Brody. I love it when I come home and chase yells out "DADDY" and has a big smile on his face and is coming to hug me.
