Rappel On!!

Tell us what your concerns are with rappelling, I want you to consider the groups, the set up, the safety measures, the accountability sheet, and what ever else that concerns you with this activity that we will be doing the next few weeks.

  1. I'm paranoid that the ropes will come undone or something like that. I'm also nervous that I'll climb up fine and then get scared and freeze up and not want to come down. It will probally won't be as scary as I think, but I won't know for sure until we do it!

  3. I'm just intimidated by the number and complexities of setting the system up. There seems to be way too much room for human error, especially at 7:30 in the morning. It almost inspires me to volunteer my coffeemaker to make coffee for the entire class.

Also, while this doesn't seem like a huge problem with my group, lapses in communication can cause huuuuge problems, and someone might get hurt because of it. (me? I hope not...<.<;;)

  4. i think my biggest concern is just with trusting everyone in our groups to do stuff right. like if one person messes up with the ropes or harnesses, then it could mess it all up for everyone. other than though i think everything will be fun!

  5. i think im going to be paranoid the morning i have to rappel. with the knots especially, i want to make sure that they are done right and that everything in the set up is right because it is very complicated and messing up just one step can ruin it all.

  6. One thing that makes me nervous about climbing is that my group or the class in general won't take it seriously or they won't pay attention when we're getting the directions.

  7. i think that there is so much to do when rappelling and i feel like i dont know what to do! the setup seems way to complex and we quickly went over it last week. other than that, i have complete trust in my group (:

  9. I'm really excited to start. Even though I'm a little nervous about the whole setting up part... okay, so when you were showing us how to set up, everyone was crowding over you and since your back was facing me the whole time (it's okay, it's not your fault), I couldn't see anything. So I'm a little lost. I hope that the people in my group will be able to teach me! Other than that, I'm super pumped to get ready for Devil's Lake!!

  10. im a little confused with th whole set up like everyone else cause theres so much to do. i feel like after awhile we'll get the hang of it but for now it seems confusing. im really excited though when we actually get to start and a little nervous but i think i trust everyone enough now to know that they wont let me fall. haha :)

  11. the thing i'm probably most scared about it definetly the setup. i feel like there are so many parts that go into it that if we do something wrong, then it messes up everything. I think i trust almost everyone in the class to not let me fall but this whole thing still makes me kinda nervous.

  12. I'm most nervous about getting the set up right, right now the set up seems really confusing and overwhelming. I guess it just takes time and practice to get it right.

  13. I'm nervous about something not being set up right, because with all the back up safety things, it seems like it would be pretty hard to fall unless something was wrong with the set up. Overall, I'm really excited for repelling, I just hope I don't fall again! haha

  14. I'm nervous because there are some really skinny poeple in our class. what if, when I'm rappeling, they go over the edge too?then, there won't just be one injury, there'll be several. I can't wait to rock climb though!!! I wonder how it works at school...

  16. Hello!!!
My only concern about the rappeling thing is that i wasn't here the day you guys went over the set up and all the techniques we have top have in order to rapel. But i thik that if i work with my group i will be able to get it right.

  19. I kinda feel like I have an edge on those who have never rappelled. I have done the jumping off and stuff but I haven't ever set up. So other than that I can't wait to do s o real rappelling

  20. i am excited about repelling and soon to be climbing. i dont even have a fear about it...its mostly just the first time you let loose and let your group take care of you as you repel. after i got past that, it was easy the second time!

  21. My concerns for repelling are just that i won't be able to go down face first or upside down because of improper set up or just messing up the technique. Other than that I trust my group and the activity all together.

  22. I guess my concerns with rapelling dealt with issues regarding how much trust i have for the members of my group.
